MacOS - How do I know if my USB flash drive is FAT32 format?

  1. Plug your USB flash drive into the USB port of your Mac.

  2. Open the Disk Utility app.

    1. Click the Launchpad icon in the Dock.

    2. Type Disk Utility in the Search field.

    3. Click the Disk Utility icon.

  3. In the left sidebar, select the USB drive that will be used for the firmware update.

  4. On the line under the USB drive name, MS-DOS (FAT32) should be listed.

  1. If you do not have a USB flash drive that meets the criteria, you can have one sent by submitting the form on the Request A Firmware Update Kit page.

  2. Locate and download the .zip file containing the firmware for your specific product from this page.

  3. Open the downloaded .zip file and move the .txt file to the USB flash drive.

    • Important: the .txt file must be moved to the root of the USB flash drive and not be placed within any folders.

  4. Locate and follow the USB firmware update instructions for your specific product from this page.
